This gathering of the World Economic History Congress will convene 29 July – 3rd August 2018 in historic Boston and Cambridge, Massachusetts. The 18th World Congress is the second to be hosted in North America and marks the 50th anniversary of the previous occasion. At the Congress you are invited to consider the many ‘Waves of Globalization’ that have given rise to the varied and multi-directional connections that characterise the economic and social world we know today.

Tο Sylvia Ioannou Foundation διοργανώνει το 2ο Διεθνές Επιστημονικό Συνέδριο Περιήγησης και Χαρτογράφησης του Ελληνικού Χώρου, με τίτλο «Κουρσάροι και Πειρατές στην Ανατολική Μεσόγειο, 15ος–19ος αι.». Στόχος του Συνεδρίου είναι να αναδείξει καινοτόμες προσεγγίσεις στις ιστορικές διαστάσεις ενός φαινομένου που επανέρχεται διαρκώς στο προσκήνιο έως τα τέλη του 19ου αιώνα.



The International Maritime Economic History Association’s 7th International Congress of Maritime History will be held in Perth, Western Australia from Monday, 27 June to Friday, 1 July 2016.

CALL FOR PAPERS The Third Conference of the Black Sea Project, The Economic and Social Development of the Port–Cities of the Southern Black Sea Coast, Late 18th – Beginning of the 20th century will take place in Istanbul in late October (23-26 October 2014). The conference is hosted by the History Department of Boğaziçi University. The project “The Black Sea and its port-cities from the 18th to the 20th century. Development, convergence and linkages with the global economy” is part of the Thalis Programme “Reinforcement of the Interdisciplinary and/or inter-institutional Research and Innovation” in the context of the operational action “Education and Life Long Learning” which is co-sponsored by the E.U. and the Greek Ministry of Education.



The Second Conference of the Black Sea Project, The Economic and Social Development of the Port–Cities of the Northern Black Sea Coast, Late 18th – Beginning of the 20th century will take place in Constanţa in late May 2014 (27 May – 1 June). The sessions of the conference will take place in the Faculty of History and Political Science of the Ovidius University of Constanţa. The sessions will be followed by a two days scientific visit to Varna. The project “The Black Sea and its port-cities from the 18th to the 20th century. Development, convergence and linkages with the global economy” is included in the Thalis Programme “Reinforcement of the Interdisciplinary and/or inter-institutional Research and Innovation” of the operational action “Education and Life Long Learning” which is co-sponsored by the E.U. and the Greek Min-istry of Education.

The First Conference of the Black Sea Project, The Economic and Social Development of the Port-Cities of the Northern Black Sea Coast, Late 18th –Beginning of the 20th century will take place in Odessa during 22-27 September 2013. The venue of the conference is in the Hellenic Foundation for Culture-Odessa Branch. The project “The Black Sea and its port-cities from the 18th to the 20th century. Development, convergence and linkages with the global economy” is included in the Thalis Programme "Reinforcement of the Interdisciplinary and/or inter-institutional Research and Innovation" of the operational action “Education and Life Long Learning” which is co-sponsored by the E.U. and the Greek Ministry of Education. The Conference is co-organised with the Hellenic Foundation for Culture-Odessa Branch and the State Archives of Odessa Region.

The 10th Maritime Heritage Conference is scheduled for 17–21 September 2014 in Norfolk, VA. Nauticus, the science and technology center and home to the Battleship Wisconsin and the Hampton Roads Naval Museum, is the principal host; sessions will be held in the Norfolk Waterside Marriott. Naval Historical Foundation program director Dr. David Winkler will serve as program chairman.
